Kat Toriez grew up in the coal mining town of Ipswich Queensland, Australia, she lived a relatively quiet young life with her father, sister and Grandmother.
From an early age Kat listened to and loved music, so much so, she went on to achieve excellent results in the world of ballet.
Surrounded by books when she was quite young, she discovered a passion for reading and words and became well versed in poetry, having gained certificates in The Art of Speech through Trinity College.
Kat learned to be an accomplished seamstress, amongst other skills, but it is her love of writing, where she shares her most gifted talent. Her clever visual images that she stores in her mind become presentations in words.
Kat started to create non-fiction and fiction books in 2020. Kat’s first books of poetry, Treasures of Love and Treasures of Nature were introduced in early 2021. Followed by a more in depth, Treasures of Life. These poetry pieces reflect her true love of nature and the beauty of the ocean.
The intricate way that her life has evolved, has given her many moments to share with avid writers.
Her first novel, Secretive Threads, was released in October 2021. This book was dedicated to her son, who passed away at a very young age with brain cancer. After a short break, during which Kat received excellent reviews for that story, Kat then released her second novel, If Only Sarah Knew, in July 2022.
Whilst Kat was writing her heartfelt poems, recording many stories for her weekly classes with her U3A writing group, entering competitions, she decided it was time to write one of the most poignant and realistic moments in her life. Kat decided to start creating self published books.
Kat’s beloved husband died from Alzheimer’s in the June of 2018. She was his constant companion and carer for eight years before he was cared for by the wonderful people associated with Blue Care.
This book, A Journey of Dementia Through the Eyes of a Carer, was released in February 2023. It has been well received throughout Australia, United Kingdom and USA.
Kat has now released a sequel to "If Only Sarah Knew" titled Whispers From The Past: A Forgotten Legacy. In writing this romantic novel, Kat became one with her characters to the point she just did not want to say farewell. This book is one you just can't put down!
Kat Toriez currently resides on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
Kat Toriez was awarded the People's Choice Award at the Storytellers Festival held on the Sunshine Coast Australia on 31 August 2022. The award was presented by the Sunshine Coast Council Libraries based on reviews of attendees at the festival particularly for authors on non fiction and fiction books.
I LOVE the beach on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland (1 hour north of Brisbane). I spend every day walking the beach, watching the world and it's beauty as I pass it by inspiring me to create non-fiction and fiction books. This is my happy place; a place that inspires me to write and share my poetry, my short stories, my novels

I spend every day walking the beach, watching the world and it's beauty as I pass it by inspiring me to create non-fiction and fiction books. This is my happy place; a place that inspires me to write and share my poetry, my short stories, my novels and of course my latest book - "A Journey of Dementia Through the Eyes of a Carer" or more aptly titled " A Journey of Forgetfulness" - a dedication to my loving husband Mac
